7 MAIN THEMES

For a successful ecological transitionpreserving biodiversity is not enough. If we want to build a new model of society that is resilient and sustainable, we need to take into account different parameters: environmental, but also economic, energy, political and societal.

This is why our approach to ecology is systemic, and why we are currently dealing with 7 themes simultaneously across a dozen or so interconnected projects.

RESPECT FOR LIFE

Preserving all forms of life: living systems at the forefront

In our world, an animal or plant species disappears every twenty minutes, with dramatic consequences for biodiversity. Respect for living things in all their forms is at the heart of eco-citizen thinking, for whom nature and human beings are one and the same. Every form of life has a value and must be preserved.

DIETARY TRANSITION

CHANGING OUR FOOD MODEL: SHORT CIRCUITS FROM FARM TO FORK

Did you know that Luxembourg produces only 3.2% of its own fruit and vegetables? In other words, what we eat depends more on imported foodstuffs than on the work of our country's farmers. Isn't this absurd?

Our actions prove that a different food system is possible, provided we promote local production, organic farming and short distribution channels, while developing urban gardening and shared gardens throughout the region.

3
ECONOMIC TRANSITION

BUILDING A VIRTUOUS ECONOMIC MODEL THROUGH LOCAL CITIZEN ACTION

The global economic model based on the race for growth and over-consumption that has prevailed for several decades has had catastrophic consequences for the environment and human health. And the more our needs increase, the more we deplete the planet's resources. We urgently need to reverse this trend! How can we do this?

By developing a new economic model with a positive impact, based on a powerful lever: local citizen action.

DEMOCRATIC TRANSITION

AMPLIFYING THE TRANSITION: FOR GREATER CITIZEN PARTICIPATION IN CLIMATE ACTION

Beyond purely environmental issues, democratic transition is also one of the pillars of the social project of the ecological transition movement. At a time when democracies around the world are experiencing a crisis of confidence on the part of their populations, we need to move beyond these models and involve citizens and all local stakeholders more closely in the decision-making process. We need to draw on collective intelligence to build solutions together.

Our credo: no action or decision is taken without the residents.

TERRITORIES IN TRANSITION

RETHINKING OUR URBAN PLANNING POLICIES TO BUILD THE CITY OF TOMORROW

We urgently need to rethink our urban planning models in order to (re)build greener cities that enable people to live, eat, work and play in a way that respects their natural environment and minimizes the ecological footprint generated by human activities. In Luxembourg, more than 5,000 m² of land is artificially developed every day, the equivalent of 240 soccer pitches a year. By concreting over our green spaces, we are further exacerbating the climate crisis - a bit like adding fuel to the fire!

6
ENERGY SOBRIETY

PROMOTING ENERGY EFFICIENCY: A RETURN TO COMMON SENSE

Photovoltaics, wind power, recycling and biogas... Will technology save us from the climate catastrophe we're heading towards? Not if we continue to maintain the unbridled pace of energy production that has been steadily increasing since the industrial revolution, and which is destroying our planet's resources. Becoming energy sober by reducing our needs and breaking our dependence on fossil fuels is a key challenge for the future.

SOCIETAL TRANSITION

A RESILIENT AND JUST SOCIETY? THIS MODEL ALREADY EXISTS!

We can mope, or we can see the climate crisis as an opportunity to profoundly transform the current system. But to achieve this structural change, we need to change the way we think and live. It can be scary, but societal transition is a powerful lever for a joyful ecological transition: you'll never want to go back!
